We Always Have a Choice
There are moments when choosing feels simple, and moments when it feels impossibly hard. There are times we’re certain we have no choice at all. But we do. Even in the most tangled, tender, or overwhelming circumstances, a choice is still there, waiting quietly beneath the surface.
For much of my life, I didn’t know that. I moved through situations believing I was trapped, believing nothing could shift. I felt small inside my own life. I felt like a victim of what was happening around me.
But the moment I realized I did have a choice, something opened. A small light. A sense of power returning to my own hands.
Some choices come from responsibility or obligation. Others are born from necessity — caring for ourselves, caring for those we love. But the circumstances themselves are not the heart of the matter.
What matters is this: If you are in a situation and feel you cannot leave or change it, it is still a choice. And the moment you acknowledge that truth, the energy shifts. You begin to honor your own feelings. You let them rise. These feelings are old energies asking to be lifted into the light.
As you soften into what’s true — the fear, the anger, the sadness, the shame, the guilt — something begins to loosen. The fog thins. New possibilities appear. A conversation, a book, a sudden instinct, a doorway you didn’t see before.
When you see yourself as a victim, you stay frozen. When you remember your power, your world expands.
Many years ago, a dear friend of mine was struggling deeply with her daughter. The pain felt unbearable, and she began whispering to the Universe each day, “I want to die.” Eventually, her body grew ill.
Near the end of her life, she had a dream — or perhaps a vision. A luminous being appeared beside her and asked gently, “Are you sure?” She said yes. And soon after, she passed. It was her choice, even at the threshold of her final breath.
That moment taught me something profound: We can change our minds at any time. We always have choices. Even in the hardest landscapes of our lives, there are paths we cannot yet see.
This is the courage of change — to turn inward, to feel what is asking to be felt, to let the old energies rise and release.
As they soften, you reconnect with your own inner guidance. You feel the quiet support of the Universe gathering around you.
We are living in a time of great change — a time of loosening the old, a time of welcoming the new.
Change can feel frightening. It asks us to step into the unknown. But the unknown can be spacious, loving, and full of possibility. And it will always guide you toward your highest good.
